Student Testimonials

Carol Clarke

Thank you for the positive feedback. It's given me a massive boost. I can't believe I have wasted so much money on attempting to do other courses twice before and giving up purely because I was just sent a book to read and complete exercises. Already I feel as though I have learned so much just by completing a couple of tasks and I'm actually enjoying it too. I know I have a way to go but my initial view is a good one. £98 well spent so far!

Subjects we Offer

All course are suitable for both mature students and home educated pupils.

Science GCSE Tuition

Most mature students simply require 'a Science GCSE'. Combined Science is no longer available to independent candidates who are studying outside the school or college system because of the recent inclusion of compulsory laboratory work.

Instead, students can obtain Biology or Physics or Chemistry as a single separate subject and this fulfils the requirements to enter, for example, teacher training.

The perception of Biology has always been that it?s the easiest science, but the modern Physics and Chemistry courses are also quite straightforward and accessible for any student who is reasonably good at Maths.

In Biology you will study such topics as digestion, breathing, blood & circulation, reproduction in plants & animals, ecosystems, genetics, hormones, food chains, cells, micro-organisms, enzymes, evolution and many more.

In Physics you will study topics which include forces, dynamics, friction, density, gases & pressure, momentum, energy transfers, waves, sound, light, planetary motion, heat, electricity (both static and current), magnetism, atoms & radioactivity etc.

In Chemistry the topics include the periodic table, atomic bonding, electrolysis, acids & alkalis, organic compounds, reactivity, metal extraction, enthalpy, polymers, rate of reaction etc.

These separate science syllabuses are iGCSEs (the ones lots of private schools do nowadays) with Edexcel. Course codes are 4BI0 for Biology, 4PH0 for Physics & 4CH0 for Chemistry.

Examinations are in Summer (May/June) or January.

As with all our courses the work begins with a written Assessment from which point the tutor sets out a programme of study: detailed tasks and up to 25 assignments to be marked and further advice given. Your tutor will monitor your progress and is always available to help with individual problems.

If you complete the course, you will pass!
